There is a meaningful body of research detailing that conservative protestants are more likely to engage in corporal punishment than other faith communities and this doesn’t necessarily change with higher education because they maintain a belief scripture requires discipline that involves hitting children. If this is true, then this dynamic can only be changed by challenging the theological underpinnings.
